Hello Friends!
The Summer Reading Requirement is simple…Read, Read, Read!!
- If you are going to be in 5th grade in September, please Read Old Yeller. Keep track of questions your had, lessons you have learned.
- What are the themes? What is the summary of the story? Write these on a piece of paper to be turned in the first day of school.
- If you are going to be in 4th grade in September, please Read Charlotte’s Web. Keep track of questions your had, lessons you have learned.
- Why do you think the author wrote this book. What was she teaching us? Write these on a piece of paper to be turned in the first day of school.
- Keep a log of other books you read this summer, along with where you read.
Truth be told, my favorite place to read is standing at the end of the dock of a cottage we rent—In the water!! Then, when we get home, I stand in my pool to read. I have already done it several times in this HOT weather!!
Where is your favorite place?? A treehouse? A hammock? In the top bunk? I am curious about where you like to read! Write it on the log to be turned in the first day of school.
- Make at least one book selection from the list I am sharing. Sometimes it is cool to look at book lists others suggest and challenge yourself to find them in the library. I want to know that you tried to find a book at the library at least once. Did you use the author or title to find the book? It is a great skill to develop. Can you use the computer to find it??
That is it! Pretty simple, right??
Have fun. Can’t wait to discuss our reading in September, or drop me an email if you want! Lauren.Bates@dor.org
